Hey there! I'm Talia and for the majority of my adult life, I've been in the healthcare field. Most of my career has been as an ER nurse in a level 1 trauma center, but last year I became a nurse practitioner and I now work as a provider in an ICU.
While I didn't yet know it, Unilaterally Humerus was born in 2020 when the ER had a T shirt contest. Multiple people submitted T shirt ideas and I couldn't think of a single one. Once all of the ideas were submitted and a T shirt had been picked, suddenly I came up with a big idea for a T shirt. It couldn't have come at a worse time, and I kicked myself for not having thought of it earlier. That T shirt idea festered in my mind constantly. I thought to myself "next time they have a T shirt contest, I have to submit my idea!"
Well, I waited and waited, and there was never another contest. Months went by and I came up with a second excellent idea for a T shirt. And then a third. And a fourth. I didn't know what to do with these ideas until I went online shopping for nurse swag. During my search, I barely found any jokes that I hadn't heard before. That's when I knew that I had to fill that void. And since I couldn't find many funny products for nurses, I decided that it couldn't just be T shirts. I had to sell a wider variety of products. So here we are, to strengthen the medical community, Unilaterally Humerus!
